I’m not gonna lie — when I’m en route back to the office less than 11 hours after I left, thinking about beautiful things is a challenge. But, it’s Thursday (or, I believe it is Thursday, at any rate) so it’s time to list three beautiful things from the past week.
1. After starting out with seemingly-impervious gray and thunderstorms, Saturday turned into an absolutely gorgeous day — perfect for the cookout and baseball game that were on my calendar.
2. My newly-revised commute (to avoid the red line) has introduced me to a new breakfast stop — Pret a Manger. The coffee is great and the “fruit & oat slice” is insanely delicious.
3. I had a very fruitful meeting yesterday that is going to let me get a big, nagging project done at last.
(Please excuse any typos, as I wrote this on my phone whilst commuting and am not going to have any opportunity to spell check. I need to make a stop for coffee MUCH more than I need to proof this, sorry.)

We *love* Pret, although we’ve yet to visit the D.C. location. Whenever we visit London, they’re on our to-do list. I recommend their sandwiches, as it has never occurred to me to look to them for breakfast. But now…
You have been using the word “delicious” a bit of late, or else that seems to be the word that I am keying in on. So then the use of “fruitful” made me chuckle. I know I’m not pregnant / morning sick, so why my fixation? Do you really mention edibles frequently?
@ sprite – I was lured into Pret simply because they had coffee urns visible through the windows. I did remember later that you or Rudi had mentioned it as a favorite, though.
@ CL – Well, according to the full-text search on the back end, I’ve only used the word delicious three times in the past three weeks — though always in the 3BT post. So, if nothing else, I apparently do often find yummy things beautiful. So, maybe you’re projecting a little?
And the abundance of fruit today has to do with the fact that I switched out #2 at the last minute (I had forgotten until I got off the train that I had wanted to include it). And I just didn’t have time to think of another word to replace fruitful in my meeting description, because I was literally finishing the post as I walked up the street to my office.
There’s a pret in DC? I’ve only seen them in London. And their Hoisin Duck sandwich was delicious.
@ scottahb – Yup, it’s right outside the 18th & I exit of Farragut West, which is how I stumbled upon it. http://www.pret.com/us/find_a_pret/wdc.htm.
