When Geeks Plan a Vacation

Sometimes they do really geeky things, like build out an entire Google map of their trip, with lots of cool sites listed, and with a bunch of useful Wikipedia links to make it nice and informative.

But then, sometimes, WordPress decides to be a complete pain in the ass, not embed the map properly, and then not have a solution in their forums that actually works.

And finally, sometimes, the geeky traveler/blogger gets tired and gives the hell up on impressing everyone with an awesome embedded map.

If that sometime were now, and that geeky person was me, I’d recommend clicking on the link below. It is, apparently, the only way you’re going to get to see the damn map.

Grr.

My Egypt Trip Map

I Must Love My Job

Today, in the service of a fun project at work, I officially humiliated myself on the internets. (Note the entirely un-slick manner in which I read my lines off the giant white board.)

You can find the virtual attendee site here, or follow my work tweets (which may, in some cases, be shockingly similar to the personal tweets fed into the  sidebar) here.

Oh No! The Internet is Broken!

OK, not the whole internet. Just Twitter. And LiveJournal. And Facebook, at least a little.

The non-broken parts of the internet are abuzz with news of a massive denial of service attack on Twitter, and I can’t help but wonder if the related downtime on Facebook is due to a jillion disgruntled Twitterers all landing on FB at once to bitch.

I’m happy to report TechCrunch has a very helpful list of things to to when Twitter is down.  (Without this, I’d have to turn my attention back to work. Bleh.) I’ve done 2, 6, and 12 so far, and with this post now have 8 covered. Whew.

I’m reading now that Twitter is back up, so I’ll see if I can finally send that work-related (seriously) tweet like I was planning to do when this whole thing started. If not, I’ll be moving on to #15 shortly.
